Brewery roadtrip to Indiana & Michigan (photo diary)

IND-MICH ROADTRIP_0213

Did someone say beer roadtrip? Those two words never cease to raise my eyebrows – especially when used together. Last month, Pour Woman and I ventured east with a hefty list of potential breweries to visit and a cooler in the trunk for souvenirs. In three days, we returned to Chicago having knocked a few back at nine different breweries and a distillery (they do sell their barrels to a local brewery, so it counts). One glaring theme shared amongst most of these breweries is the offering of a “mug club,” whereby you pay to have your own mug hanging in the brewpub and are privy to special offers, etc. I can’t think of any Chicago-area breweries doing this can you?

Like Chicago, Michigan’s craft beer market is growing quickly, and soon they will be known for more than just their big hitters like Bell’s and Founders. Everyone we met along the way could not have been nicer, and we’ll be exploring further into these states in the near future.
